GPO and GPA State Training Workshops
In 2017 EV has coordinated two GP Obstetric (GPO) workshops held in February and April and one GP Anaesthetist (GPA) Workshop in May for all Advanced Trainees across the State. Both workshops were convened by Dr David Simon and Dr Louise Sterling.
The workshop in February was held in Warragul and well attended with the opportunity provided for Trainees to undertake an FSEP course as part of the workshop. The second workshop was a satellite one day workshop held during the RANZCOG ASM Provincial Fellows Meeting in Albury. Trainees enjoyed being able to refine their technique and skills and we were also delighted to have several of the Conference delegates from Fiji and Papua New Guinea join the workshop providing a great opportunity to network, exchange experiences and learn from each other.
A one day GPA workshop was recently held in Bendigo convened by Dr Andrea Noar and Dr Antony Wong. Trainees enjoyed the opportunity to discuss exam preparation, the role of a GP Anaesthetist, case studies on laryngospasm and perianal surgery, common anaesthetic problems and the opportunity to engage in some great constructive discussion.
A combined two day GPO and GPA workshop is scheduled for the first weekend in July at Ballarat Hospital which will be a great educational experience and also a valuable networking opportunity. A dinner will be included with invitations extended to the local GPO and GPA community to join staff and trainees.
