On Friday 5 May 2017 over one hundred General Practice (GP) training supervisors came together to attend a Residential Workshop at San Remo, as part of the Eastern Victoria GP Training (EV) program. Most of the GP supervisors attending the San Remo Workshop are practising GPs from across Gippsland and the Mornington Peninsula, who are committed to training the next generation of GPs in the region. The Hon Greg Hunt MP, Federal Member for Flinders, Minister for Health and Minister for Sport, outlined initiatives underway in General Practice and the 2017 Federal budget which he described as being of benefit to the Gippsland community with a focus on strengthening Medicare, Mental Health, Preventive Health and Medical Research. The presentation was well received by all, with a number of questions from the GPs relating to ensuring ongoing GP services to our communities across the region. EV GP Training (EV) is committed to the continuous improvement in the training of doctors in the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) program. Each year, the Australian Government commissions an external research company to conduct a survey of GP registrars to gauge the level of satisfaction with their training, regional training organisations (in your case EV) and career progression. In 2016, the AGPT Registrar Satisfaction Survey (RSS) will again be administered to all eligible AGPT registrars by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). The survey opens 21 November and closes 23 December 2016. Registrars should monitor their email for an invitation to complete the survey and we strongly encourage EV registrars to participate. The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete and the results enable the Department of Health to monitor the performance of the program and help bring emerging issues to the attention of the Department and other GP training stakeholders. For those interested in last year’s survey, the 2015 AGPT Registrar Satisfaction Survey Final Report is available to download from the AGPT website. Or you can…
