Congratulations to all of our registrars who were successful in the recent AKT examination. I attended a meeting with the Directors of Training from other RTOs recently. There was a very positive and collaborative spirit, despite everyone being extremely busy with regional training delivery. The implications of new AGPT and Colleges’ policies for registrars was discussed at length. There is a tremendous amount of work being done at EV GP Training to clarify and adopt these policies for our registrars. Support and professional development for medical educators was also seen as an ongoing priority. Our second newsletter for 2016 contains useful information for GP supervisors and practice managers, and EV registrars across Eastern Victoria. Staff from our two offices will descend on Pakenham in April to participate in team-building activities and to celebrate 100 days as a new organisation. This continues our theme of two offices, one region. Importantly it provides our staff with the opportunity to engage face to face and share ideas on how best to support our GP training program. I want EV staff to: build self-awareness of their own contribution, and that of those around them, to what we do see the value created through delivering quality GP training in our region, including the difference it can make to future primary care across Eastern Victoria take a can-do attitude to supporting GP training, both inside and outside the practice. What do we do? We both deliver and support quality GP training in Eastern Victoria. So much of what we do involves value creation – achieved by individuals. A combination of innovative and tried and tested, recognised and validated, well-supported, justifiable…

Welcome to the first newsletter for EV GP Training (EV). As a new organisation there are a range of important matters we are diligently working on so that GP training in our region can be delivered in the most effective, high quality manner. Recruitment for EV is all but complete. We were delighted with the take up of acceptances by existing supervisors, medical educators and program support staff to continue their involvement through EV GP Training. As we know, the last year was full of uncertainty. To have people on board who know what it means to deliver a quality GP training program in Eastern Victoria, is both gratifying and augurs well for our current and future cohorts. EV will have approximately 400 registrars training throughout Eastern Victoria this year. This includes the 122 commencing with the 2016 intake. Some 150 training practices will participate in the training and supervision of our registrars this year including over 40 training practices across Gippsland. The Training Practices, Supervisors and support staff, and our Medical Educators are the backbone of EV without which…
