Welcome to the June 2017 newsletter. It has been a busy and productive year so far for EV and our GP training program. Our new integrated education program has been successfully rolled out and has been well received by all stakeholders. A number of new practices started as training practices in February and they have had time to settle into the training calendar and requirements. Our new 2018 registrar cohort have also settled into life as GP registrars.
EV underwent our triennial Bi-College Accreditation (BCA) in early May and the team visited both our offices and interviewed staff. The BCA team concluded that EV took the best of the legacy organisations to form EV, we have a positive culture, are agile, flexible and responsive to change. EV’s commitment to review, quality improvement and evaluation across the organisation was commended. The review team were particularly impressed with the education governance structure, our e-learning program and the policy framework that underpins our organisation. We await the review reports from both Colleges.
This year we have seen a major change to selection for the 2018 AGPT program with the two GP colleges taking a lead role in the management and implementation of selection. Applications closed in early May. Applicants who preference EV will undergo college based assessments. EV will then interview shortlisted applicants for our region to determine the final cohort. We are well underway with our preparations for the August interviews and thank those Supervisors who will be involved.
We are beginning our preparations for Semester 2 and also the upcoming 2018 Practice Match.
