There are two GP colleges. The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and the Australian College of Rural & Remote Medicine (ACRRM).

Applicants select the College they wish to work towards Fellowship with and apply to that College for entry into the AGPT program.

Both the RACGP and ACRRM set standards and training curriculum in accord with each College’s requirements. In addition, they manage the assessments and exams that lead to the awarding of fellowship of their respective College. It should be noted, however, that in order to obtain fellowship, a registrar is required to complete all assessments and complete all requirements of the training program. Information relating to the standards and curriculum can be found on each college website (RACGP and ACRRM) while more information about training program requirements can be found in the “Training with EV” section.

RACGP and ACRRM Overviews
