What a year 2020 has been! It has been a challenging time for Victorians indeed. We started off the year with bushfires, then shortly after experienced the 2 extremely challenging COVID19 waves. For registrars, there have been significant changes in face to face learning; the incorporation of telehealth; workshops becoming online based learning; zoom fatigue; changes and delays to exam formats, and generally just a stressful time for us all. We hope you are all coping ok and we are keen to hear from you about ways that we could improve and further support you (easiest way is to email us on firstname.lastname@example.org).
Congratulations to registrars who have completed the first ever new formatted RCE exam in late November 2020, and the AKT / KFP exam on December 4 and 5 2020. Results are scheduled to be released 17 December 2020 for RCE, 28 January 2021 for AKT and 4 March 2021 for KFP. Good luck to all of those who sat the exam!
The next AKT / KFP 2021.1 exams will be held on 5 and 6 February 2021. For those of you sitting the exams, best of wishes and don’t forget to take a break from studying during the holiday season!
We are looking to continue the Mentor Program in 2021. You may have seen an email or a post on the Facebook page regarding involvement in this Mentor Program. If you have been a mentor or mentee, we have sent out a short survey to you. Your valuable feedback is much appreciated so if you have not done so, please take a minute or two to complete it, as this will help us greatly in improving the program in 2021. We will be trying to match GPT1/2s interested in having a mentor to GPT3/4s/Fellows. If you are interested in getting involved in being either a mentor or a mentee in 2021 please email email@example.com and state your name, stage of training and whether you are a rural or metro trainee. Once we have allocated the matches we will contact you both with the details of your mentor/mentee match.
We hope to arrange a social event in 2021 (pending the COVID situation) which will be an excellent opportunity to get together and see our peers, which is something many of us have not been able to do for so many months.
Good Resources for EV registrars
Just a reminder, if you’re not already aware, the following organisations all have a lot of resources and information to support you through your training. They can all be accessed online, via phone or email. They include: EV’s administrative support, medical educators, supervisors and, of course, RLOs, RACGP, ACCRM, GPRA and the AMA Doctors in Training, just to name a few.
Looking after yourselves during this time is paramount too so if you need some additional personal support beyond the above please think about reaching out to your own GP. EV also funds confidential visits to a psychologist during your training, which can be accessed through Pivotal/Okta.
