Hi everyone!

This is the first RLO newsletter for 2017 so we basically wanted to run through a few basics as well as give you all a heads up about upcoming events and highlight certain important changes. We hope you’re all settling into your placements and things have started well!

As your Registrar Liaison Officers, we are here to provide all EV registrars support and information throughout your training. You can contact us about any issues either directly or through the following e-mail address: rlo@evgptraining.com.au

1. FRACGP Exams

Well done to all those who have recently sat the written exams. We are currently in the process of evaluating how we can best support our registrars for the OSCE exam on 27th May 2017.

We are looking at potentially running practice sessions similar to the sessions held at the end of last year by the RLOs in Hawthorn. Potentially, this could start after notification of AKT results for those interested in starting their OSCE preparation.

We will update you with final details soon!

2. TRAPT Escape Room Experience – Social Event

You’ve already received recent information about this event being held on Sunday 26 February. However, just as a reminder for those wishing to book- get in quick as we have limited numbers and the link to book tickets is as follows:

Trybooking link: https://www.trybooking.com/ORRL

As the first social event of the year, this is a great opportunity for those wishing to get to know other registrars. Please contact Anza via 0423 396 580 or the RLO email address if you have any queries regarding this event.

We will be holding other events later in the year so keep an eye out for those details.

3. Professional Development Allowance

At the start of this year you were sent detailed information regarding the current guidelines for each registrar’s ‘Professional Development Allowance’. Please make sure you read this carefully. It is important to highlight that there is a maximum of:

  • $1500 in total for General pathway registrars (calculated over the training period)
  • $3000 in total for Rural pathway registrars (calculated over the training period)

4. GPRA Future of General Practice Conference

This year, General Practice Registrars Australia’s (GPRA) annual conference ‘Future of General Practice 2017’ will be held in Sydney on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd April at the Rydges World Square Hotel. Two of our RLOs will be attending so please feel free to contact us to meet up if you decide to join in the fun! You can find out details about the program and how to book here.

5. EV Registrars FaceBook Page

Anyone looking for study buddies for the upcoming exams, please join our Facebook group! It was created for the sole purpose of facilitating such things more quickly and easily.

Again, we are here to support you guys so please call or write to us if you need to clarify/talk about anything at any stage. Have a great week and we’ll be in touch again soon!
