Rural Junior Doctor Training Program

EV is in the process of receiving a further extension of our existing contract to continue coordinating the Rural Junior Doctor Training Program for the 2022 training year. This program is delivered in partnership with the Latrobe Regional Hospital as part of the Gippsland Intern Training Program.

Interns will continue to be hosted by the following practices for 2022:

  • Heyfield Medical Centre
  • Leongatha Healthcare
  • United Medical Centre, Moe

For 2022, we welcome Leongatha Healthcare (pending PMCV accreditation) becoming the new host practice for PGY2 junior doctors replacing Trafalgar Medical. This is an exciting initiative which will see Leongatha Healthcare become a fully immersed vertically integrated training practice from Medical Student – Interns – PGY2s to GP Registrars.

We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the significant contribution Trafalgar Medical has provided as part of this program hosting PGY2s and sincerely thank all staff involved for their commitment and support.

We look forward to continued delivery of this program for 2022 and working with our host practices and Latrobe Regional Hospital.

Rural Generalist Trainee Statewide Workshop Program

Since 2013, EV and legacy RTOs have been successfully delivering the Rural Generalist Statewide Workshop Program for GP Anaesthetics and GP Obstetric trainees. This year, EV has supported the expansion of the program to be delivered for the Rural Generalist Paediatric and Emergency Medicine trainees across the state.

We coordinated and delivered the final program under the EV umbrella in June and we are proud to have now handed over what has become a world class program to the ‘Victorian Rural Generalist Program’ to continue coordinating and delivering into the future.

We would like to acknowledge the funding support provided by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services and thank all the facilitators and guest speakers from across Australia and overseas for their significant contribution in supporting trainees through their rural generalist advanced skills journey, particularly during the pandemic.
