What work will the registrar be doing?
The registrar will be working in a sports medicine clinic seeing patients with sports related injuries while also being able to spend time with the other staff in the clinic such as allied health staff and specialist orthopaedic physicians and in theatre assisting operations. There is the opportunity to work with outside sports teams in some posts. Working with patients with acute injuries will provide the option to follow patients through from injury to operation if required and rehabilitation. In some clinics there are associated general practice services or pain management clinics.
Skills to be gained within the post:
The position would suit a registrar interested in increasing their knowledge and skills in sports and musculoskeletal medicine. They would increase their skills in the examination and management of joint problems especially knees, shoulders, ankles, backs and hips as well as the management of common sports condition while working in a multidisciplinary sports medicine clinic.
