EV delivers the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) program. The program is 3- 4 years of which at least 18 months are spent in community general practice placements. Practices must be accredited to the RACGP and/or ACRRM Training Standards in order to participate as a training practice.
What is a Training Practice?
A training practice is a general practice that has an established capacity and commitment to support the training of GP registrars. Regional Training Organisations, such as EV, accredit training practices based upon the requirements of the RACGP and/or ACRRM. The college(s) examine all aspects of a practice’s clinical and educational environment in addition to their ability to support the training needs of registrars. When a practice becomes accredited they make an ongoing commitment to maintain and enhance the quality of their training environment. They do this by developing and engaging in learning plans with registrars, by ensuring that supervisors participate in educational professional development opportunities, and importantly, ensuring that registrars are well supervised in their delivery of safe and effective health care.
